I am trying to sell my dad's 2002 350 Rancher, and after I brought it from his place to mine via a trailer, it started leaking oil all over my garage floor. The oil was brand new. It was all over the bottom plate, but the top was clean. When I checked the oil level, it was right where it was supposed to be. I cleaned up the plate as best I could, started it up, put it in both forward and reverse gear and moved it a bit, and no leak resulted after that. Is it possible the oil came out of some port during transport? I know nothing about these machines.

Maybe your dad changed the oil and filter and spilled some oil while refilling?

Look inside the air cleaner box under the seat. Is there any motor oil in the bottom? If no oil is found in the airbox, check the oil drain plug under the motor to verify that there is no leaky gasket on that plug and that the plug is snugged up tight. Do not overtighten that drain plug though. If is is leaking it needs a new gasket. Then check the oil filter cover (located on the right side of the motor toward the front, it is round and held on by three small bolts) for leaks.

Start the motor and let it idle for a couple minutes then shut it off. Wait for one full minute after shutoff then pull the dipsick, clean the oil off it and push it back down into its hole and pull it out to read the level on the dipstick. Do not screw the dipstick in to check the oil level, just push it down until it bottoms and pull it back out. Does it read full?

maybe it was over filled with oil, and your drove it up on trailer, and pressure inside motor, push oil out while in transit thru crank vent or??
I would also make sure you ask your father if he did change oil, did he put oil filter in right way or NOT
in wrong will force oil out and will soon starve motor of oil and be a bigger issue!
