Had an electrical fire in the wiring the other day while trail riding.
Under the fender above the right rear wheel. The fire was in the wiring above the electronic module mounted to the frame. The fire did not stop the engine, noticed smoke coming from under fender. Shut the engine off and disconnected battery. Then wiring changed from smoke to flames. Was towed off the trail.
So need to know what parts are available to fix the wiring harness.??
Any sources and ideas on what should be replaced be sides melted wires.
Is the complete rear wiring harness available?
What electronics should be replaced besides the module at the fire source??

Thank you in advance

Yeah, the harness is available, new or used. Shop around for prices, part numbers can be viewed HERE.

As for what else may need to be replaced, that will have to be your task to figure out. You can use a multimeter to check for shorts before you put your battery back in it. The service manual for your 500 will be your best friend for this job, you can get a copy HERE.

If you have any questions just ask. Lots of sharp folks here that like to help!

Wow. I read a lot about Polaris machines catching fire, but not Hondas.
