I'm looking for a replacement clutch nut. I have been trying to unstake the bugger so I can reuse it, to no avail. Is there some place other than a honda dealer to get a nut with same threads, etc? (closest is 50 miles, no time to get there before the weekend). I also thought about grinding off the stake and placing a thin washer behind it when replacing it, but I can't find what size the shaft is. Any ideas? auto parts guys looked at me like I was nuts, which is about normal.

which clutch nut you trying to remove ?..one is left hand threads..while the clutch basket it right hand threads on the nut. if your trying to remove either one..use an air impact..zips them right off..don't worry about the thing being staked.

I'm trying to remove the clutch basket to replace the disks. Will not unstaking the nut cause thread damage? I'd like to use the nut again if at all possible.

i've zipped many of them off with a air impact...they never have messed up the threads on me...just make sure you take it off the right way..as i said..the centrifugal clutch nut is left hand threads..where is the clutch disk basket nut is right hand threads..take this one off like a reg nut..air impact..comes right off..goes back on..honda wants you to throw the old one away ( money scam )..just take it off..do what you gotta do..put it back on..re-stake it.

I agree, just take it off with an impact wrench. It will unstake itself, when it turns.
