I purchased a 2001 rancher from someone at work, with them stating that it was stuck in 2nd gear. After replacing the angle sensor and the shift motor, I was finally able to hear it try and shift, but no luck with it coming out of second gear.
I tore the front end down today and found some broken parts in the clutch area of the box, but I will say that I am ignorant to what part this is or what it is called. Even with the clutch arm and all adjacent parts removed, I am still unable to move the manual shifter more than an inch, or so, both ways.

your broken part is this #15 in the diagram

you may have to rock the atv back and forth to shift into a certain gear,
but with part #15, you wont be able to unlatch #14.

is #16 broken? thats the shaft that will start the shifting process.

Was the engine sold to you seized? does it start?
you can pull start it or even pull the pull chord to see if the engine turns, remove spark plug it may be easier.

Thank you! I purchased a replacement #15, but I am not sure how to get to #14 to check it. I removed both clutch packs, but I am struggling with this. If I turn the manual shifter, the shaft does not move so that tells me that the problem is further in. Here is where I am. Also, the engine is not seized
