2001 honda foreman 400 ?

Hi guys, i was plowing snow today and noticed that my front wheel drive wasn't working( only rear wheel drive) . i placed the bike on a lift and spin the rear wheels and the front move but when any resistance to the front wheel and it stops spinning. could the spline on the front drive be stripped? everything spins with a turn of the wheels. i reversed the order and turned the front wheels and the back turns as well. Bad spline on the Shaft? Any help would be greatly appreciated! i suspect i'll have to tear down the front end .oh ,and i checked the gear oil level and its as per the manual.

yes could very well be a stripped spline on drive shaft, and or axles too, but harder to see both axles splines stripping at same time

but sounds like drive shaft issue to me!
