I recently tore down my 400ex and replaced a few gears and shift forks. Got it all back together and worked out a few kinks. Started and sounds great!! But it wont shift, sadness. So I have dug threw forums and manuals and found my problem. It's the shift plate that seats up with the shift drum. I can see it threw the peep hole in the right crank case. How in the world do I get the plate to move 2 mm to sit where it needs to go????? I don't want to have to break down the engine if I don't have to!! Please help!
