hey everyone ive had a few problems with my quad and now ive found out i have no compression.i dumped oil down the spark plug hole and got no raise in the compression .how do i know if its my rings or valves im completely new to this and only know the basics about engines any help would be greatlly appreciated.

if after putting oil in your spark plug hole..and you cranked it over..and you didn't get any compression..then either your valves are bad..or your rings are bad..one or both...only way to check this for sure..is to tear the head off...take your rings off the piston..slide them down into the cylinder..look at the end gap on the rings..if they are out of spec..then they are bad...as for the valves..after you get the head off..with the valves still in...turn the head upside down..pour alittle gas into the head..if the gas leaks out..your valves aren't seating..or they are bent..one..or both..this is how you check your valves and rings

Agree^^^^ when was the last time it was running? and how was it running? you possibly could have bent a valve

it was runnin fine but dumpin gas out the bottom of the carb and my tank was cracked so i shut it down and it seemed fine but when i fixed the carb and leaks it had no compression then
