I have a 2000 Rancher that I am getting the starter solenoid click. I jumped the two posts and still nothing. I am getting 12 volts at the starter when pushing button. I can hold the starter button and slowly pull the recoil starter and it will eventually spin over. So, I’m pretty sure I need to fix/replace my brushes. What brand repair kit is everyone using?

I get the cheap ones on ebay. Brushes are cheap and easy to replace.

Thanks, I saw an old post where shadetree said DB Electrical out of TN had good starters. Found them on amazon for $26, so went ahead and ordered the entire starter. Thanks for the help.

I pulled the starter and broke it down. One of the brushes was completly worn out and the copper was completly covered in black dust.

Get a brush kit, clean up that old starter, and put new brushes in it. Never hurts to have a spare.

DB has good stuff. I've used them for solenoids for my old Jeep winches.
