You're not gonna enjoy reading this... ya gotta remove both fenders and clean & dielectric grease every wiring harness connector pair on the bike. The grounds on the motor and on the frame must be shined up and retightened too. Once you've got those connectors all clean and waterproofed follow the steps outlined in a couple posts in the following thread beginning here:

You'll likely fix every electrical problem on the bike by performing those works thoroughly. And your Rancher will shift better than it did the day it rolled off the showroom floor. And be trouble-free for many more years.
