I have a 2000 Honda Rancher 350. Ive owned it since new and have ran it just about everyday since ive owned it. I use it to feed cows with and get around my farm and go huntin. My problem is that when i start it up for first time it has no power. The engine will rev up but it will barely move at all. After running it a few minutes it runs great. Im thinkin something transmission related and after the fluid gets warmed up it runs better. I cant find away to check the transmission fluid and it doesnt mention it in the manual. I also checked the rear differential fluid and when i took that screw out none came out. Is it suppose to run out or just suppose to be up the hole? What do you guys think could be the problem here? Thanks

Welcome to the forums. The transmission doesn't use transmission fluid. The same oil that lubricates the engine, lubricates the transmission. It's all one oil and one check. What kind of oil are you using? Are you using oil designed for wet clutches? Sounds like your clutch is slipping.

As for the rear diff, there's a check bolt on the left side of the diff. The oil is supposed to be up to the check bolt hole. Take the check bolt out and pour gear oil in the top oil fill hole until it starts running out the check bolt hole.

10w-30. It has a a slow oil leak so I just add it as needed. Ii ran out of 10w-40 and a started using the other. And I'm certain that's the problem because I started using it around the time the problem started. Ill drain it tomorow and switch it. Do you think the problem will go away once I change it or has the damage already been done.

Because of the wet clutch, if you use automotive oils with friction modifiers, it will make the clutch start slipping. If it hasn't been doing it long, it might be OK if you change it now. It probably wouldn't hurt to flush the engine out with some diesel. Make sure you use Honda oil or an oil that's designed for wet clutches.

Also my front drum brakes have quit working. They don't have any pressure but they are not leaking anywhere. I'm thinking the master cylinder is bad or something. Can anybody think of somthing that could be causing this

Try adjusting the brake shoes up. If that doesn't work, try bleeding the air out of the lines. If that doesn't work and you can't get them to pump up any, you may have a bad master cylinder.

Well I changed the oil and it helped a lot. I pulled the drum off and the wheel cylinder barely moves up and down. I'm just gona get some new pads and a master cylinder. Thanks for all the help guys
don't buy a new master brake cylinder..that is..a brand new one...they are 400 bucks..instead..purchase a rebuild kit for it..they are only 40 bucks !!!, more than likely you still got air in your lines...or your brake cylinders are siezed up inside the cylinders, which..by the way..you can also either tear them down, or rebuild them also..i would tear them down..and give them a good cleaning..once you do this..clean the adjusting star nuts up real good, put new shoes on it..bleed the air out of the lines..your brakes will be like brand new brakes.
