I have a 400ex and the rear axel slides side to side but doesn't seem to have up and down play, would bearings cause that or what would cause it?

It's definitely the axel it slides side to side in the rear where the bearings and all are

How's the lock nut sapose to go? The skinny one is closer to the rotor and the rounded side of the bigger one it towards the wheel, it's not against the rotor it would run out of threads first.

So should the rounded part of the bigger nut be against the rotor and the jam nut against the hex side closer to the wheel?

I was wrong the nut is facing the other way, took a couple pics and a video bit not sure it shows it well

Ok but I still don't understand what would cause the rear to slide side to side on the axel
