I looked at this quad today. Here are the issues as I saw them

-needs 4 tires
-needs front and rear brakes
-needs front wheel brgs
-rear axle is bent--wheel hit from behind
-starter solenoid is bad
-lower steering stem brg is bad
-front rack needs some welding

The engine and drive gear seem OK, and plastic is reasonably good, although this bike looks like it has been used hard. I figure about $1000 for parts to get it up to reasonable condition.

Good ones here sell for around $2000.

Thinking about offering $800-900.

ok..i'm gonna give you a run down on what i see..and what i know, first..do you know what shape the rear differental gears look like ?..yes..i know your asking..how can i know that..without tearing the differental apart ???..i'll tell you....one thing you can do..is remove the fill cap..with a flashlight..you can rotate the rear axle..and watch the ring gear teeth as they move...if any teeth are chipped..or stripped..more than likely..the pinion gear will be too !..and most likely need new bearings and seals...to give you a price for a new set of ring gear and pinion..that will set you back about 400 to 500 bucks here..no clue what you would have to fork out up there ??. the stearing steem bearing is a big pain to remove..you will need a new seal and bearing for that, also a pair of snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring that sits under the seal...and once you remove that..your gonna have fun getting that bearing out period !..lol. moving along..did you hear it run ?..if so..did it smoke ?..if so..there is a ring job..( top end rebuild down the road )...how did the tie rods feal ?..were they loose ?.feal any play in both front tires ?..how was the upper and lower ball joints ?..any play ?..if so..they are a pain to remove...the list goes on and on..i know you posted a few of what you did see..question is..did you consider all of the stuff you didn't see !!!..oh..before i forget..that axle ( new here )..will set you back about 200 or more bucks if you buy a new one mind you !..if i were you..i would go back..check all of what i mentioned..and see how those are..if all that is ok..then..i would offer him/her no more than 800 as is..if it's got all the problems you found..and also the problems i mentioned..i wouldn't offer more than 500 if it were me.

I checked everything Shade. The issue I mentioned were the ones I found. As I said, the engine and running gear are fine, except for the slightly bent axle. No bad teeth in the back box, and the brgs and seals seemed OK. Tie rods were tight and I may have mistaken the bad front wheel bearings for the lower stem bearing--I would need to recheck that. I DO know that both front wheel bearings are bad and that may have masked the ball joints, but they looked and felt tight.
Pretty confident that I could find a used axle around here.
I offered $800 but all I got was a revised ad with a $400 price drop. Just gonna sit tight for a few days and see what else develops.
Thanks for your input.

Amen to that. Prices are not as low here as they might be in your area. D0n't think I would ever get it for less than, say $1200---too many people with cash looking for these things.
