So i recently purchased a 1999 honda fourtrax 300 4x4 from this guy, he didnt know what he was doing and lost a bunch of hardware, i got the rear diff and axle and driveshaft back on after replacing a bunch of missing hardware, well i missed 2 bolts on the left side of the engine where the drivehsaft connects to the splines, its the 2 long bolts that hold it into the block, well after some hard abuse the other day 2nd gear is now grinding, and when it starts to grind it acts like its stuck between gears and when i give it gas it slams back into 2nd, only 2nd gear is doing it though, and its completely random, i put bolts into that cover and it still does it, so im sure something is wrong now, but just need some advice as to what it could be

You can start anywhere, but if the trans is damaged internally, the cases will need to be split... so the motor would have to be taken out of the frame for a complete teardown.
