I know there is probably a ton of threads about this already but I am looking for some help. I was given this ATV by my father in law and told if you can get it going it's yours. I'm not overly mechanical but lucky for me you can learn anything on YouTube. Cleaned it up and ordered a general tune up kit which was a battery, spark plug, oil, filter, etc. Did all that. Cleaned the carb which was ridiculously full of crap and now it fires right up. Idles and runs well so I was pretty proud. However, it will not shift past 2nd gear. R, 1, 2 are no issues but when I try to go to 3 it does show up on the screen temporarily but it doesn't shift. It just changes back to 2 after a second or so. After looking online I was gonna check a few things tonight. Should I try to manually shift with the lever provided and see if it reads and goes to 3 (and above). As I mentioned I am not overly mechanical but enjoy learning. Could it be something as small as a fuse? Angle sensor? Gear change motor? Are these things I could just take off and clean up or tighten/look for any obvious issues before needing to buy a replacement? Any input is very appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Yeah, the shift motor and reduction gears commonly stiffen up. You can take them apart and clean all of the old grease out and re-lube with fresh grease to get them functional again. Look them over closely for damage to the gears and use some dielectric grease in every harness connector on the bike to maintain and waterproof them. You can get a copy of the factory service manual HERE to use for reference.

Welcome to the forums! Got any pics you'd like to share of your Foreman...?

Clean the old stiff grease out of the reduction gears. Relube lightly with some white lithium grease.
