believe it or not ?, 12 volt dc CAN burn/melt, catch on fire, seen it too many times. if there is a direct short to ground ?, it can happen. like I said, removing the bulb WONT fix the problem. removing the bulbs also does not stop the current from traveling through the wires ?, its always hot at all times,, regardless if the bulb is in there or not.Removing the bulb was just a suggestion..Do whatever you want. Besides ,how would it catch fire? We're talking about 12 volts here through a circuit that is resisted through the bulb...removing the bulb would also disconnect the 12 volts from reaching ground.
