Ok fellows,

I bought this think as a non runner and boy is it. Still having trouble getting spark. Here's what I've done so far with the electrical. It was missing the CDI and the connector. Bought a harness off EBAY and a new CDI soldered connector in with heat shrink on every wire. Missing starter relay: replaced starter relay, replaced coil and wire. replaced spar plug. Cleaned coil ground screw and tab. No spark. According to the manual the next move is to test the "Ignition Pulse Generator". I went from the blue/yellow wire on the connector with my other lead to the frame. Manual says should be a resistance reading of 290-360 ohms. I can't get anything but infinite resistance that way. What's the next move?

Thanks

UPDATE, well I pulled the side cover off and what do ya know! The IPG is not even there! It has been removed and the state of things in there is not so hot.
I'd like the opinion of the experts here on what I should do about the stator and the flywheel. If I clean them up and the stator tests ok should I just reuse it? I guarantee the rust is where they opened it before to rob the IPG and then didn't replace the gasket. The old gasket was missing a piece right above the rusty spot on the fly wheel.
Whats the simple way to test a stator? Check out the nasty pics. This damn thing has turned into a labor of love!

Ohm it out.. make sure you get nothing to ground.. IF you replace it.. make SURE you get the same stator as you took out.. they have to match the flywheel..

Careful with the shift shaft, don't pull it out too far. if it doesn't change gears when you get it back together, you'll have to reset it on the right side..

Some of those bits you can soak in vinegar overnight to loosen all the rust then you will have to rinse and dry them pretty quickly or they will surface rust
I wouldn't do that to your stator or any component with a rubber seal cuz vinegar will deform it.

Yea these can be labors of love--this was obviously neglected but you can bring her back or use as a parts buggy if ya want. What was that old saying about a friend who gifts you a boat is no friend lol

Do you see oil in the muffler or on the motor?

Were you able to do a compression test?
