Does anyone here have the spec sheet on a 1998 2 wheel drive, I would love to know more . I have a repair manuel ordered, I'm in Ky til this weekend & My manuel will be in TN where I live most of the time. I would to know the displacement of the engine, horsepower, rear gear ratio, torque, how much you can pull, how much it will cary on the front & rear racks, just any info would great. Also can anyone post a picture of a Tan 300 fourtrax the way it came from the factory? Any help would be greatly appreciated

These specs are for the 4X4 model, but most of the specs should be the same.

I have brand new never installed Honda Front plastic for it & getting ready to order the rear, front is pretty good & rear os real good, I just want new platstic on it, I took it apart & cleaned the frame repainted all of it with Rustolem Gloss Black, I have new seat for it & racks were sanded & primed with rustolem rust reformer & then painted 2 coats of Rustolem Gloss black, new wheels, new tires, everything is working as it should, just need the money to buy the back fender, battery cover kick start cover, trunk lid & all new bolts, if you are interested in the front plastic let me know & I'll send you pictures this weekend. When I finish mine will look like a brand new one.

Only thing I can add is the engine (88 anyway yours should be about the same) is 20HP no clue on tq but there is plenty. The hitch is RATED at 30lbs tongue weight and 800lb towing weight (including trailer and contents).

You can buy an '88 replacement cam for a the '89-up and give them a little more power. But you might be able to buy an aftermarket cam and get a little more. I'm not sure about the aftermarket cam, though.

funny you mention that I was looking at web cams website (at least I think it was them) and for the TRX 300 they listed a mild replacement cam but it was for 92 and up only. So, I'd say 92 is when they finally pulled the good cam out of them. I looked on bike bandit also and they are different part numbers in 92 +
