how do i adjust the valves?

Did you adjust the valves with a warm motor?the timing chain guides are new! the lifters was rattling bad and i came here to learn to adjust the valve lifters and that stoped a lot of the rattling but its still got some rattling when it idols you barley here the rattling but as it gets warmer it gets a little louder what could cause the problem?
