Recently traded one of my bows for a used fourtrax. Compression tested 195psi 1/2 quart low on oil. Have it topped off now and all stripped down. Known problems: master cylinder was empty ( i filled it up with dot4 [it was laying around] , small oil leak on valve cover above spark plug, had oil in airbox when i brought it home but can't get it to spill more in there, ripped swingarm boot, rear end binding up bad when put the tank on her and tried riding around the subdivision.....

Oil temp light comes on while reving engine (no battery).....Sometimes the compression release doesn't reset? Instead of it sticking up it falls straight down?

Compression release should drop back down after you kick it over.

I tried to load a video but it’s not there.

Ignition on (neutral and oil light come on; after a few seconds the oil light goes out)
Flip up compression release to kick start.
Roll throttle to 1/3 open
Kick start
Lever drops down

The cable inside the valve cover? Lol i don't see it. Regardless i think i need to pull it to remedy the small leak i have and check the timing to see if that could be why i found oil in the airbox??? It doesn't burn oil and since ive been tinkering with it i cant get it to dump more in there. Starts easy (50 degrees choke on first kick)

Oh darn it I better take a closer look—there’s a cable on my 86 but I don’t see one on my 93

No everything appears to be there. Sometimes after kicking it over (it resets and goes to the down position) i grab it to put it back in decompress position and it falls straight down like it doesnt need engaged?

you need to pull the lever out of the rocker box, sounds like to me, the spring is not on there ?. nm. seen the pic..i see the spring now ( just woke up ..lol ). now you need to pull the rocker box off he head, and see why the inside of the lever is not resting on the exhaust valve ?.

most of the trx300's do not have a decompression cable, but a lot of the old school trx350's have them.
