New member here, I plan on replacing the stator myself, wondering if I need a flywheel puller to remove the stator? And when I pull the side cover off is there a chance I can mess up the engine timing?
Why think of changing the stator so quickly? Have you tested it for continuity and shorts to ground? They don't often fail unless the bike was operated without a battery. Its usually a connector problem that does not require removal from the bike.
I call your course of action "Swaptronics" and it can get expensive . . . unnecessarily. Let's work through this using the fault tree in the book and save you money and time.
