I purchased this four wheeler used a few months ago. ran excellent but recently brought it to a mud bog and gave it hell all day long. Towards the end of the day it developed a ticking/knock sound upon heavy acceleration which eventually clears up. i can almlost feel it between my legs. it does it more if i gas hard in a higher gear. Still starts up fine, seems to have good compression, enough to break your ankle without using the compression release lol. it doesnt smoke at all and does not seem to make this noise im neutral. only under load. does this sound like a top end issue? piston? valve clearence or valve train? timing chain? or possibly something with the clutches. Im a little stumped where to start. Maybe if someone could suggest a step of tests/procedures to diagnose it would be helpful. All input is appreciated. thanks

Thanks for your input, i will check as soon as i get home from work and chime back in with my findings. However would this explain a loss of power during that tick/knocking occurance. it will get going if i ease on it or it will eventually clear up but while its ticking it seems like it has less power. maybe more towards valves then? thanks
