My CDI box fried while starting. It literally smoked!
I ordered an OEM 30410-HM5-505. I checked all things the service manual instructed. The coil was bad. Replaced the coil and connector, plus the spark plug. The lights are all good. No spark...
The connector configuration on the new CDI box is different, i was wondering if anyone had experienced this. See attachments.

****The numbers on the chassis aren't visible anymore and wasn't when I got it 6 years ago.

TE15E-85XXXXX as best as i can tell is a ‘93 engine and they do not use the same CDI.
Your connectors should be the same, so that’s odd.
Thanks for that info. I couldn't find anything that could specify that. After reading your reply I looked up some wiring diagrams for pre-1995 honda 300 fourtrax. I found something synonymous with the wiring on my bike. The Gr(Gray) wire from the reverse switch on my bike goes to a diode and CDI box, then from the diode output a Gr/R(Gray with red stripe) to the Reverse indicator lamp..The 1995 model wiring diagram shows a Gr(Gray) from the Reverse switch going straight to the Reverse indicator lamp.
The bike had been obviously tampered with, so I assumed that someone had "homemade" the wiring.
It looks like I have somewhere in the 88-94 range.
I'll report back.....Thanks again
