My friend has a( like the tittle says a 95 fourtrax 300 4x4 )and was wondering about tire size verse gear ratio. He is wondering if he has to run a different size tire on the front than the rear for the gear reduction in the transmission. Or can he just run the same size tire all the way around?

Welcome to the forums. The front tires are supposed to be 1 inch smaller than the rear tires. That's the reason for the transfer case. Some people will run the same size tires and they claim it don't hurt anything. Personally, I never would do that, because I think it will eventually do some damage somewhere. If you ride in mostly mud, then it might be OK, but if you ride on hard surfaces or asphalt much, then I wouldn't run the same size.

Also to add having a bigger tire at the end will give more traction coz atv runs on rear wheel drive having a bigger tire to the front would be hard to maneuver.
