Hey guys, i just took apart my atv to fix the timing chain and head and valve cover. I have it all together and it runs great but when i shift into gear it moves ahead a bit but won't drive. I followed the manual instructions when i put it back together and i have tried adjusting the clutch but no progress... Is there something i might have missed maybe. I have the shifter level lined up with mark on case and mark on lever..thxs for any help

I would guess you pinched a clutch disc when you put it back together from it not being in line ------------- with the cover off , you can see or feel that one or more of the clutch disc and frictions are loose , it happens from not staggering the 4 bolts a little at a time and not getting all lined up

OK i took the cover back off and i can move the clutch plates back and fourth, i removed the clutch and reinstalled and tried the staggering of the 4 bolts but i get the same results. The basket slides on the shaft and then on the splines and it meshes with the gear on the right.. What am i doing wrong that i am not seeing... thxs

So yesturday i played around with the basket and checked all the discs and i notice that sometimes when it went together the discs were loose, then the next time it went together they were tight. I reinstalled the basket and now the bike moves but there is noise like splines that are not meshed properly. Once i shift into gear the noise goes away and the bike moves. Could this be the clutch adjustment now... thxs for all the help guys...
