91 was a 250X. does it have a kickstart? everything in the top will interchange between the 250X and 300EX the 300 head dosen't have decompression though. the pistons are the same. the cranks are different.

Welcome to the forums. Yes, that's a 250X, it has a kick starter. The 300EX has no kick starter, just electric start.

Anyone know what it takes... or if there is a good thread on adding a kicker to my 300ex like I did to my 450ER ?
Good luck you would need the X case halves I'm sure and I believe the input shafts are a little longer on the 300EX to compensate for the electric start. I'm sure it can be done anything is possible. the 450ER had basically the same layout on the engines is why you were able to get it to work.

thanks for the help and welcomes!!!!! did this bike come with reverse???? mine has no reverse? if it did how do i go about getting it back on?
Yes, they have reverse. It should have a red button on the clutch lever to push and a lever down on the left side of the engine to pull up to put it in reverse.

if you look on the shifter side of the engine you will see a lever just aboive the sprocket. like Helmut said there is a button on the clutch perch the red tip may be missing but you basically are in neutral and you release the clutch push the button down pull in the clutch reach down and pull up on the lever and shift to first. now you are in reverse. if you stall out you will have to push the lever on the engine back down and start over.
Take a pic of the left side of the engine so I can see if your missing any parts.
