I came across this video online and got to noticing a few differences between the US and Canadian models of this ATV.… Does anyone know why the Canadian ones we're never called Foremans but had the wider fender flares and even the gray plastic and seat? I'm wondering if Japan made these decisions as to the features of this model for each country? This kind of stuff always fascinated me ha.

No fuel gauge or removable headlight. These were just fourtraxes the foreman was never offered in Canada under the Foreman name or otherwise. The 350’s were sold in Canada until 1993. The colours of the seats and plastic changed slightly through the years. Some black, some grey, some purpleish (REB model in 1993)

Yeah this particular one in the video seems to be a hodge podge of both the US and Canadian model. I'm just curious as to why it was decided that the US models got the removable headlight, fuel gauge etc. and the Canadian model did not...

I watched the video twice and seen no fuel gauge on it. ALL of the Canadian models had the wider fender flares, I had the same ones on my 87 350 Fourtrax.

Honda did use Fourtrax on all models but in Canada the 350’s were never called Fourtrax Foreman or TRX350D. Just like the newer ranchers we have, there are all just plain fourtrax not rancher. You go to a dealer here and ask for parts for a 350/400/420 Rancher they will have no clue what your talking about. And there is small differences between the American ranchers and Canadian fourtrax models just the same as there is differences in these 350’s.

The bottom line is the machine in the video is NOT a Foreman, unless it came from the US at some point in the last 27 years.

Shade, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the Foremans were actually "Fourtrax Foremans". The TRX350A is the regular Fourtrax 4x4 and the TRX350D was the Fourtrax Foreman 4x4.

welllllllllll..lol. believe it or not, some of the 1987 I think ?, 1988, and 1989 had the foreman model name, what set them apart was the the fuel gauge , wide fender flares, removable headlight, the D at the end of the model , from what I was told ?, stood for deluxe, this is where all the optional features came into play. when they put the fuel gauge , wide fender flares, removable headlight on them, they were known as foremans, but every one of these models were all fourtrax. fourtrax is just a sub name honda uses on all of their 4-wheelers ever sense they came into play..which was in 1986 for these models. 1986 trx350 fourtrax. then later down the years when they added all those extra optional features..they tossed in the foreman name on the end of fourtrax.

Yall get pullstarts on all the newer stuff too.

Maybe the Canadians are the high maintenance customers!

here is a brief history of Honda's time line, but they don't list the 1989 trx350D foreman ?..hmm. --->Honda ATV Model History Timeline, 1970-Present - Heritage - Honda News .
1986 FourTrax 4X4 (TRX350)
Honda's first ATV with full-time four-wheel drive features a limited-slip front differential. This powerful workhorse is equipped with a tough 350cc four-stroke engine, a vibration-reducing counterbalancer and a fan-assisted oil cooler as standard equipment.

1987 FourTrax Foreman 4X4 (TRX350D)
One year after the successful launch of the FourTrax 4x4, the celebrated Foreman name is born. The 350cc Foreman 4x4 features front and rear racks, a high-output, 310-watt alternator and an 850-pound towing capacity.

They list the release years, so the 350 Fourtrax came out in 86

86 and 87 Fourtrax were the same (350A), then there was also the 87 Fourtrax Foreman (350D), which went through 89.

The electrical systems were the same on 86 and 87 350 Fourtrax, but the 87 350D Foreman had a different system, and then the 88 and 89 350D foreman yet another system, so when looking for components the 87 350D is the oddball.

I was told the "D" in the 350D stood for digital, as in the fuel gauge.

hmmmmm. Guessing it would take the meter AND the wiring harness to get one of those to work on a US footshift.

And of course, yall have to be like the rest of the world and us KM instead of miles....:icon_censored:

jeep, honestly...the 1986 is the odd ball..as far as parts go, seeing how this was Honda's first 4wd atv, it was an experiment, and when they seen it was a huge hit ?, they made them better through the years.
