Just picked this up,don't much about 4 strokes.What should I know about this machine,fuel octane,maint.etc...At times I seem to get lots of kick back when trying to start,also was very hard to start yesterday when hot.Thanks again and take it easy on the newbie.:smile:

Probably a jetting issue but more likely valves need to be adjusted. Use the highest pump gas you can find, usually 91. I would give it an oil change and a new air filter. If that machine has diff fluid I would change that to...just change all of the fluids.

The Kickback your getting may be due to an improper detent adjustment also. Mine does it too but I gots alot more compression, I also run straight up 104 octane, 93 works ok anything less and it won't run for crap.


But I agree with Red on the fluid service.

I'll have to scan that page in my manual and send it to you just pm me with your add. also you might want to try the next time you hop on your bike push the kickstarter down slowly to the bottom then let it recoil back up and try to kick it then. If you are on the compression stroke you will get kickback too try that and see if it helps. you will be able to tell if you are on the compression kick if so push it down beyond that and then kick it. So you would be starting on the Exhaust stroke.



How do I adjust the detent?
