Honda 1990 TRX200 2X4.

So, here is the short version...
It was running fine, no probblems.
I stopped it, turned it off, 5 minutes later tried to start it, no spark.
Checked it out, ordered new CDI,
Plugged in new CDI, started right up.

Put it all back together.
Started it up, switched into reverse. (for those not familiar, this requires you holding down a button on the left hand grip while pushing down on the gearshift with your foot, while praying, and holding your breath).

As soon as the red reverse light lights up, it dies.

I can drag it into the yard, start it, and ride around in forward gears with no problem.

So what do you think....
1) Was the weird thing with the reverse the problem all along?
2) Did my CDI replacement, not exactly replace the original?
3) Is my tranny locked up in reverse?
4) Do I have a bad reverse switch (measures OK)?
5) is 20 years out of an ATV enough and I need to give it a decent burial?
6) forget reverse, who needs it anyway, always move forward.

I welcome your thoughts...

Are you getting any noise from the gearbox in the forward gears?
