Ok friends , I'm having some issues with my atv I had bought for my little girl as a birthday present . When we got the atv it ran ok at times and other times it wouldn't start, cut off randomly, idel really fast ... so I just went and bought a brand new carb for it off eBay, put the carb on , it fired up and ran like a dream, couldn't have ask for a better bike , then one day while riding, throttle was engaged at least 3/4 to Full, and all of a sudden it started spitting and spuddering and ended up dieing ... I have worked on this thing till im blue in the face... all my daughter wants to do is ride her bday present and I can't get it going.. Ok as of now I've bought probably 8 of the ngk spark plugs cause when it dies it fouls the plugs alnmost every time . I can start it up first kick start and it fires right up, and will stay running for hours if ya let it. Then you can mash throttle some... about 1/4 to mabie 1/2 then let off of it and it putters and dies then I have to wait about 20 min b4 I can get it to restart back up.. I've watch COUNTLESS YouTube tutorials on how to adjust the gas /poliet screw and I'm doing exactly what it says ,getting the atv to it's most highest ideling position and leave alone right....? Well as soon as I do that it stays running but I can put in gear and hit throttle and it starts spitting and sputtering and eventually dies ounce again..... however when Its ideling and I turn the black knob on bottom of carb to increase idel to max it will barley spit and sputter hardly any .... I've even tried tapping on the carb to see if something is mabie stuck ... I don't know... someone PLESE give me some suggestions .... I'm about to drive myself crazy over this thing and all I really trying to do is get my daughter something she can ride....

Hello, welcome to the forums!

Did you buy an OEM Honda carb on the fLeebay or is it a cheap china knockoff? If the latter you'll need to replace it with your original OEM carb because those china carbs are junk and can't be made to work. If its all original let us know and we'll help you fix it.

@retro bet me to it... The Chinese carbs, usually around $40-$50 are no good, they may work for a short while but that’s it.
You need to rebuild your OEM carb, it’s quite an easy process and there are tutorials on YouTube, we can also offer assistance here as well if you get an issue. Rebuild kits are available off eBay BUT, be sure to buy a known good brand, Moose would get you going for a while but obviously it won’t last as long as genuine Honda.
Be sure to clean out your fuel tank and fit a new inline fuel filter while your at it, I always fit new hose as well.

In a nutshell, Chinese parts for ATV’s aren’t much cop, a shame OEM parts aren’t priced the same!

Can I be the devil's advocate , "most" after market carbs from China are junk especially the $30-40 ones , most are universal to fit more than one application and that is where problems come in , from the amount of spark plugs you have gone thru fouling out , makes me thing you are sending too much fuel into it , you may have one with too big a jet , I have a few after market carbs on 300's that for years have been no problems , I have had some that were nothing but problems , the good ones were around $90 but I just looked and don't even see them offered any more , from what I just heard after the 1st of the year and when inventory runs out , there will be no more OEM carbs for 300 ------- if I were you I would regroup , start with the basics and be sure you are not fighting more than one problem , even though it does sound like fuel is your problem , do a compression test , check the slack in the timing chain for a timing issue , clean out the fuel tank and carb again

trash the carb from ebay, buy a carb rebuild kit, problem solved..well...at least fuel wise, does not mean you could have trash in the tank ?, a c.d.i. going out or bad to start with ?, bad reg/rec ?, bad spark plug coil ?, bad stator ?.
