Just picked up an 88 TRX300FW, has no spark. Have been checking comnections and chasing wires. No luck so far. Pulled the CDI box, has HC5 2270, made by philips. Is this the correct box? Or aftermarket maybe? Im having no luck finding one that matches that number for this machine.

Good question no the part numbers aren’t printed on the CDI

Use my Rocky Mtn link below to find the part number for your CDI. Not likely they’ll have one but then you might consider another option either a used or genuine Ricks

I'd save the $35 and get the Rick's CDI , I have 3 Rick's CDI's running on 300's right now , I am running them for a different reason than my CDI went out and I needed a replacement , on the 2nd gen 300's there was a rev limiter built into the CDI that is set at 6,000 rpm's , the Rick's CDi is no rev limit and will turn over 7,000 now on my 300's and has timing curve for a performance gain , but you having a 88 , the Rick's CDI for it doesn't have those mod as it was already that way in 88 , so the Rick's 88 300 CDI is the same as stock as far as performance goes ----just be careful as there are fake Rick's CDI's out there , go to their site and order on the phone
