I bought a plastic gas tank for my sons 1988 300 4x4. For some reason, I can't get the gas cap to stop leaking. It seems when the tank is full it leaks fuel from the gas cap the worst obviously. I put a vent tube on the cap and it continues to leak from the underside of the fuel cap. I even tried to make another gasket to put onto the gasket that came on cap. Any suggestions would greatly be helpful.

take the gasket out , put a bead of 3m5200 and let it fully dry , put the gasket back , might make the gasket fit tighter ----- get the correct tank for it , I have a 1988 300 OEM tank in great condition , I think they are hard to find in good condition , are you close to Louisiana

I'm in TN, I tried making another gasket on top of the original. But Im going to try what you said. It wont hurt... Thanks
