Is the left crankcase cover supposed to be filled with oil?

Took it off checking for no spark.

Tks trx2five0 and shadetree..this thing starts runs dies after anywhere 5 to 10 mins.
Idles not too bad just up and dies instantly...doesn't sound like fuel because dies
Without warning. Have manual, checked all ohm readings.. Put blow drier to coil and
Cdi, jumped reverse switch...??
