I've acquired a fourtrax, hasn't been running for a few years. Took the carb off, cleaned it up and put in a rebuild kit. Now it fires up without using the choke and idles fine but almost dies when I hit the throttle. If I feather it, I can get it to rev up and run ok...any input would be greatly appreciated

Clean it again and be sure the emulsion tube is spotless, if you have an air compressor blow out all the jets and air ways.

Did you use a known good brand or OEM rebuild kit? If you didn't that could well be your issue.

I just did the exact same thing with an old 250 and got it running perfect.

Did you adjust the timing of the butterfly valve to slider? (sorry not sure of the proper terminology for that). The service manual had one small section on it. Do you have a service manual?
