Hey guys, haven't been on here in a while but I still have my '87 350 Fourtrax...she's a garage queen mostly ha. Anyways, I acquired a good fuel tank and fuel gauge from an '88 350D Foreman that I will be installing on mine, and was trying to find out where the wires coming out of the fuel gauge connect to (aside from the ones that connect to the fuel sending unit)? Well, the 87 TRX350 wiring harness does not have provisions for the TRX350D fuel sending unit or the LED fuel gauge. You can't just replace your wiring harness with a used one from a 350D Foreman either, cause there are other several other electrical component differences between those two models... even the stator is different... so its a cost prohibitive idea to attempt a harness swap.

Your only option is to add the necessary wiring for the fuel sending unit and fuel gauge into your existing harness. You can do that if you have some decent soldering equipment, soldering supplies and a few male & female plugs to accomplish a professional plugs-right-in-to-existing-harness installation...?

Thanks for the info, retro....I know that there are 3 wires coming from the fuel sending unit in the gas tank that connect to 3 wires on the fuel gauge....so the additional 2 wires coming out of the fuel gage are the ones which connect to somewhere in the wiring harness then? I'm assuming one is a hot and one a ground to power the fuel gauge perhaps? thanks

Update... I got the fuel meter all installed and wired up... Works great!

Nice looking machine! I think these are some of the best looking wheelers ever made. So many little details that got scrapped later to save money. My favorite being the cable operated decompression lever... 86 & 87 only, right? I have often wished I had the fuel gauge. I just might do it now too! Clean install!

I agree, to me there hasn't been a better looking ATV since these were built. The old Honda 3 and 4 wheelers that were made in japan were of the highest quality down to every nut and bolt. I really wish they were still made this way, but the manufacturers don't want them to last forever like these tanks will if you take care of them.

Wow very cool!! Any info on that LED setup (where u bought them, how much)? What did you end up doing to hook it up to the wire harness?

I've got a TRX300FW '95 and now I'm wondering if I could get some sort of setup like that on it. Really trippy!

I got the LED fuel gauge on eBay... There are three or four of them for sale on there right now. For this particular bike, you have to have a gas tank with the fuel sending unit on it...i got lucky and found a clean original one that works great
