Hello everyone, I have been referencing this forum a lot for info but this is the first time I've posted and I'm in desperate need of some help.
I recently bought an old 1987 Honda 350d Fourtrax and got it running. Now I need to tackle the front brakes. Basically water has got in the shoe many years ago and the x2 cylinders are beyond repair.
Honda don't make these anymore and I can't find any used ones. Can I use some from newer models or does anybody know where I can find some?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Callum

Nothing on eBay but I'll keep a close eye. I seen some cylinders for much newer models that look pretty similar but have been told today from a local quad bike breakers that they wouldn't work.

I think they're toast. Can't get the pistons out, tried everything - heat, diesel, penetrating oil etc. The guy before me obviously had a good go without knowing what he was doing and the upper lip where the seal goes has been demolished.

Tried quad bike wales (nothing) and quad bike direct who are looking into it for me. Some have suggested replacing the whole backing unit with something off a newer model but then would that require new drums also? My guess is probably.

Rodp, thanks for the interest but it's a true barn find always wanted one and it's taken me 3 weeks to get it going so it's my pride and joy. Not keen on selling at all. Just out of curiosity tho how much is something like that worth? I guess it's hard to say without seeing it

Rodp, what state are your body plastics on the donor vehicle? I need a battery cover, complete rear panel and the grey fins on one side of the engine bay. This is based on you having these and wanting to sell obviously

Shadetree, thanks for the kind offer but I'm more than happy to pay my way as a first time user of the site. I'll organise a courier to pick up from your location if that helps too? I'm not 100% the year of my quad so might need to confirm that before I put you thru the hassle. No sign of VIN number but I do have an engine number. Any other tell tale signs of how to separate the exact year?

Rodp, ok no problem I hope you don't mind me asking.
Yes definitely finding it's harder to get parts than expected although it is a 30 year old Quad I suppose!!
All the plastics arent a priority at the moment but thought I would ask all the same.
Once I get the brakes sorted everything is in good working condition and I plan to get out on a few treks with it as it's my first quad then perhaps as you say look to trade it for something a bit more useable.
I managed to get it for £250 off a good friend so think I've got a good deal. I'll use any future profit to put back into the bike and get it looking as good as I can.
Thanks for all your advice!!!

Runs really good after I changed all the filters, replaced the fuel pump and cleaned the carb. Could maybe do with a bit tuning but no smoke. I'm really pleased with it and just can't wait to get out on it

Sorry guys had a problem with the thread loading.
My mistake on the vin number I was looking in the right place but obviously called it the wrong thing. Is it on the U shaped square tube further to the front or the round bar behind does anyone know?
I'm beginning to realise this isn't going to be a quick fix and out in the fields like Rodp suggests.
Thanks for all the places where to find these. If Shadetree doesn't come back to me I will buy a complete unit as suggested.
I agree would have loved to have lived 30 years ago, music, bikes, cars everything we're better

The complete backing plate is a left hand I need a right hand ? Doesn't seem to be any others on eBay.
Sorry Shadetree due to Loading issues I hadn't seen your subsequent posts. As I say I'm happy to pay for units and postage if you have the parts and prepared to help a brother out?!!

Thanks guys I shall wait on hear from you Rod. I'd be happy with just the cylinders no need for the whole plate when mines is ok. I also have a rebuild kit on the way if I need it and new shoe kit ready to go.
