I have just bought a 1987 FourTrax 350 4x4 and I am looking to rebuild the starter. From what I have read the starters that you can buy are not very good, so I would prefer to rebuild the starter. But I am having problems finding a starter rebuild kit. Any ideas on which kits work?

Thanks for the help. I will have to figure something out. I took the starter apart and it had electrical tape holding stuff together inside. Its rusted pretty good but with a kit I think I can get it going again.

I attached pic of a starter I replaced–my understanding from the Honda shop techs and members here that it’s not rebuildable.
I replaced that starter with OEM but bought a quadboss rebuild kit before I knew it was not rebuildable. I have another starter I plan to rebuild maybe better luck on that one.

Perhaps best to rebuild starters before they stop working! LOLs

Mine is not grooved like that so I think it is rebuildable, and I tested it with the multi meter and it seems to be fine. It is rusted pretty good on the part which will be replaced in the rebuild kit, but the rest of it looks pretty good. I will have to replace a wire or two but that shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for the quadboss tip. I will get one of those.
Here are some pics of what I found when I took it apart. I wonder if the electrical tape actually worked for a bit.
