I drug my dad's trx350 out of the barn the other day to get it ready for hunting season. It cranked fine, but after it got warm it would die after letting off the throttle. Checked the airbox and found a nice rat's nest. I have since cleaned it up and replaced the airfilter. However, the bike still dies almost immediatly after letting off the gas. I wouldnt think that there are chewed wires or what not.

Is it finally time for a carb cleaning, or is there other things I need to be looking for?

Rats love the plastic coating on wires... Try cleaning the carb. Chances are if you had chewed wires it wouldn't run.

agreed..carb needs cleaning..you can not let them sit for a period of time..and they stay clean..gas gums up the jets quicker than you can say *******.

ok thanks, guys. usually it does not have any problems from sitting all summer, my dad is a firm believer in sta-bil. The carb has not been cleaned since 1994, so I figured it was due. LOL

I always shut off the gas and let the machine run out of gas. I do that with lawnmowers and anything else that will sit over the summer or winter. Works like a charm. You can also just drain the carb, but it's easier for me to just let it run out of gas.
