Selling the plastics off my bike. 4 pieces in great condition-- Front, Rear, 2x Side covers

Link to pictures in album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/pfZF7uDnX8M6Xnzt1

These are in FANTASTIC condition, as you can see from the pics. I am also including the working yellow lights that are attached to the front. I've taken a picture of the few problem spots. I didn't get a pic, but there are 2-3 mounting brackets that are broken off. I am working on designing a part to fix that, and will include that part before the sale.

Edit: Listed on ebay: [snip] This doesn't include the side covers...

Edit2: Removed from ebay. Can't ship these!

Yeah, this set would go for $500+ on eBay but then I'd have to deal with shipping, fees, and other BS!

I'll be selling some of the other stuff off the '88, but I haven't torn it down or even decided which parts I'm keeping. I know for sure I'm keeping the carb, fuel pump, electronics. I'll sell the gas tank, front axle, driveshaft, plus a lot of the other bits and pieces I don't need.

I have two bikes-- an 86 and an 88. The 86 is in fantastic shape; the '88, not so much. I want to ride the '86, but I just know I'll hit something and mess up the pristine plastics. So, I took the brittle and semi-broken plastic off the '88 and will be using them on the '86, and I'm selling these to recoup the cost of the bike and the repairs/replacements that need to take place.

just a heads up, those side covers alone will fetch close to, if not higher than your asking price for the whole fenders..lol.

Sounds like you better buy the lot then, Shade!! Lol.

If I end up having to list them on eBay, I'll research it more and list them separately and higher. I wanted to give forums members a chance to get them cheap, so that I don't have to mess with eBay crap. Plus, you had mentioned on the phone you would never ship the plastics again!! I'd get them packed and insured by UPS so that at least I'd have some recourse if it broke in transit, but that's a pretty pricey service.

I've seen just one side cover go for 300 bucks on ebay !..lol. sadly for you, I've got mine on my girl, soooooo..don't need any plastics. in order to ship those fenders ?, your cheapest bet is gray hound bus service, around 100 bucks to ship through them. any other place ?, figure a lot more !. been there, done that...won't do it again !..lol.

Goober, Thanks! I didn't know that there are companies that make parts for such an old ATV. I ripped off part of my rear fender plowing snow. I have another request in to Manny for the full plastic OEM body parts he has for sale.

I will definitely book mark this vendor and keep them in mind. Is there a source for a complete set of nuts and bolts for the fenders?

Thanks!

Joe

Clofan,
I am interested but I am about 16 hours from you. I am applying for a job in Arkansas. I don't know when or even if I'll get it. If I do I'll message you.

I have a buddy that works in FedEX. I'll see if he has any ideas if their company can make shipping large/fragile items less of a hassle.

They ship better and fit into common box size if you take off the mud guards. Stiffen them up with a piece of thin lumber or doubled cardboard and tape. This will keep them from flexing during shipment. I bought a complete set from a breaker in Provo and it surprisingly arrived completely intact
My Dad shipped me a 70 year old double barreled shotgun that he allowed some half assed no nothing to pack. I only got the barrels—the stock was found in the back of a UPS truck—took me from the time the internet came into common use and invention of eBay to find the right replacement parts.
Word to ya—break down your Parts into a compact size—avoid very long and heavy boxes. use sturdy cardboard, stiffeners, tape, tape the bubble wrap to the item, and tape the item into the box. Your first line of defense is a great box. Oh, insurance yeah—seller get that.
