Hey guys, I bought a matching pair of these about 2 months ago for a ridiculously low price. Both Run pretty good and are in decent shape with some fading and plastic cracking, but plastic is all there. Wanted to know what the consensus is on this model. I kind of like the idea of having a chain driven utility quad (but I don't know why I like this idea :rolleyes ).

They are red, white, and blue color scheme. (Murica!)

I might post some pics if I think of it while out and about.

Thanks for the input!

they are very fast and fun to ride , I have had 2 of them , they take a licking and keep on kicking and I put them thru hell ----if you are going to ride in wet sand and dirt , the chain will wear fast , need to constantly adjust the chain , and cut a link out every now and then, parts are hard to find for them , I still have some parts for the 200SX

You have any idea where I could find to rebuild kits for front wheel cylinders for 200sx fourtrax? You not kidding about finding parts for them, its tough.

DMcD , being the 200SX's were only made in 86-87 and not in great numbers , finding parts for them is hard to say the least ------I have a complete front end for a 86 , a arms , knuckles , hubs , brake drums and what ever is still inside the drums , would guess the cylinders to be rusted up as it had seen a lot of mud in it's life ---- I would sell the whole front end for $100 , but you would have to come and get it and I couldn't guarantee the condition of the wheel cylinders

If I were you and wanted front brakes , I think I would try and find another bike with disc ( a Chinese clone type ) and modify the brakes to fit your bike ---I have a buddy who put disc off a Pep Boys atv on his 88 300

I agree with Fishfiles post, the possibilities are endless for a brake modification providing you have the necessary tools and know how. It MAY be possible to fit 300 fourtrax drums on there. I’d personally opt for OEM parts for the mod so it’s easy to source spares at a later date.

Thanks guys, I was kinda hoping there was something out there that would work off an newer model, but starting to look like its not. I've found complete wheel cylinders on Ebay, but seller can't verify if seals are any good, so not worth the gamble. I threw about $100 at the front brakes, new master cylinder, new brake shoes, only to find out seals gone in cylinders. I'm not really intrested, in modding brakes, just ride it with back brakes, keep eyes open for parts quad. Thank you both for the help, much appreciated.

Have you taken a seal out of the cylinder and taken it to an independent seal/bearing supplier? That’s how I source most parts that are obsolete or expensive if OEM.

I would bet they be's rusted up so solid and stuck or's rust pitted deep as the Grand Canyon

I had a lot of fun riding the 200SX , it is so easy to maneuver , lots of power , light weight , was super reliable for me and the ones I had were put thru HELL , mostly by family members and friends who were trying to keep up with 300's thru the mud ----the only problems I had with them was the chain slack and wear from running the chain in slop , they are a bit small , limited tire size and finding parts

I like that engine so much , I have a 86 200SX engine /wiring harness that has been rejugged , ran one time on the table and ready to go into a cart one day , last week I was playing around with the project , a 82 Club Car DS golf cart , with a swing arm , live axle rear end , chain driven , jack shafted , 5 forward , 1 reverse , automatic , electric and pull start 200SX engine , it could be fun

Sam I'm doing some research looking at other models in my year range, sadly the $30 or more price tag stops me from just trying them. I don't have any bearing supplier in my area that I know of,but will get on google an start looking. I ride the ATV as it is,the bk brakes work fine, but after investing in master cylinder, and new shoes, I'd like to get front brakes operating. I enjoying bringing these old ATV's back to life an letting them find new home,an I move on to the next one.

I think its just the seals, honestly I haven't removed them, just got them moving a bit,an bleed brakes several times, they are not leaking, but just don't seem to hold pressure. I will go a little further into them after reading these comments,an see if I can source the rubber seals, lot of the other models in this year range look like they may work, but not will to just order $30 rebuild for one side with just a gamble of they look like they fit.

I would pinch the hose right at the master and try to pump against the pinch , you should get a solid lever very fast , maybe 2 pumps , and the hard lever should stay solid and not fade any , if it does fade then either the master is bad or your pinch wasn't enough , don't use vise grip or such with teeth that will damage the hose .......read retros link
