Hey guys, I just bought an 86 trx125. I bought it knowing that two of the gears in the sub trans had teeth missing and needed to replace the gears. (the two gears are the 32t high drive gear and the shaft reduction gear.)

My problem is that they are discontinued parts and no one I could find has them in stock. I have scoured the interwebs for used parts and have been unsuccessful in finding used ones.

My question is if any of you know where I can find the two gears? My second question is, what else can I use to get my atv running? Like parts from an atc125 or something like that.

Also that previous owner tried to fix the gears by filling in the broken teeth with a welder and then grinding it down to make new teeth. Its not pretty and if I used them I wouldn't trust them to work for long or at all but what do you guys think? I could post some pics if you want.

Thanks, I check ebay about 4 time a day lol. I bought this atv thinking I could get the parts for it because the websites I checked showed that they had them in stock. Come to find out they just didn't update there site and now Im struggling to find some apparently rare parts lol.

Have you tried an ATV salvage yard? I don't know if you have any in your area, but if not, you can google "ATV salvage yard" and should be able to find some.

Yes they are hard to find. I had some trouble finding a new subtranny gear for an ATC125m a couple years back. I ended up getting lucky and finding a nos one on eBay.

Which gears on here do you need?

I needed gear # 1 and 5 but I found a seller on ebay thats parting out a trx125. Thanks for all your help, I started freaking out because I thought I just dumped $150 bucks into something I couldent fix, but I guess patience and determination is the key. I think I sent about 20 emails to different companys and ebay sellers...

like helmut said..google a atv salvage yard..this and ebay is your best bet. it may not show up on ebay right now..but..give it time..sooner or later..someone will post them..part them out..or have them in a salvage yard. it's a waitting game.
