I’ve read some threads for no spark issues but I haven’t seen everything addressed yet. So I got no spark and have checked a ton of stuff…here is a quick list.
1. Coil and wires - check fine
2. Pulse Generator - don’t have peak voltage tester but it is throwing off a signal about .2 to .3 volts
3. Stator - throwing off about 95-105 volts when cranking
Spark Plug - good (I’ve checked for spark on known good plug to eliminate the plug and still no spark)
4. Neutral Light - comes on
5. Kill switch - checks out fine and even bypassed it, still no spark.
I performed all the checks in the manual for everything resistance wise and it all checks ok. I checked all the wires from the stator to the CDI back to the coil and so forth and I don’t see any breaks or ground wires. The only wiring issue I can find is a slightly cut wire (blk/red tracer) going into the CDI that could be giving little bit of resistance from where it should be.
here is where I have some questions. I am only getting 7.5-8.5 volts to the coil when cranking (remember I don’t have peak voltage to check it right). I don’t know if that’s enough to fire the coil, I would think it needs to be at least 12 volts.
fuel pump - when I disconnect the leads to the coil and hit the starter I hear the fuel pump click on immediately so it is working. When I have the coil properly connected I don’t hear the fuel pump activate at all when starting.
I’m leaning towards bad CDI but curious if anything else could prevent the engine from producing spark
Thoughts???
