Hey, I’m new here so please pardon me if there is an existing thread about this, but I couldn’t find one. I’m currently restoring a 1986 trx 250, that runs pretty well but isn’t in perfect condition. I don’t believe it’s had an oil change in probably 10 years, so I’m working on that. The owners manual calls for “Hypoid Gear Oil SAE #80,” for the final gear oil, but I can’t find anything with that exact name anywhere. Does anyone know a modern-day substitute that I could use? Thanks in advance, —EJ

80w-90 gear oil, can buy it just about at any auto parts store, autozone, advanced auto parts, o'reily's. and yes, you can run full synthetic gear oil in the rear diff. engine oil MUST be wet clutch approved, does not matter which brand name ?, AS LONG AS ITS WET CLUTCH APPROVED !!. also, be sure NOT too install oil filter backwards !!!!!.
