You found a 90 TRX350 engine or a 300 engine?

the 86-87 Fourtrax use a different stator, CDI, starter switch assy, oil sensor harness and decompression assist. So if you try to bolt up a 90 TRX350D engine, you will have to account for those differences. Maybe your old engine can be a donor for the stator, oil sensor—not sure about the decomp lever.

I don’t think you can bolt up a 90 TRX300 engine

I think a 90 TRX350D engine would work. Different ignition system though. Use your 86 stator because it has the exciter coil the 86 system needs. The Revolution Research Line stator is incompatible with the 86-87 CDI, main harness, switch change harness and start switch. I’m assuming the flywheel is the same.
the 86 oil sensor
37750-VM5-305 is a two wire circuit; the later models use a single wire model 37750-HC4-751. I think you should be able to use the 86 sensor on the later model. Not positive
I understand there isn’t a decompression lever for the later models but I’ve not worked on one. The Rocky Mountain parts link does show the 89 engine has a decomp lever.
Your 86 starter would not work on the later model engine
