I have a 1986 FourTrax 250 that will sit and idle and run fine in reverse but as soon as I put it in forward gears it dies. I have tried putting it in first gear and it rolls backwards just fine this bike has been sitting for five or six years. I am getting plenty of fuel as I have a clear fuel filter one it.

your c.d.i. is bad ?, or your clutch pack is sticking together from sitting too long.

As shadetree has said, take a look at your change clutch. Certainly donthis before spending money on a CDI. If your not mechanically minded, report back here and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction.
