Quad sat for a year. Cleaned carb got her running but idles high and has a mid range to top end bog especially gunning throttle under load. Big has full exhaust and k&n filter. Any suggestions on how many turns out the fuel screw should be backed out to? Any help would be appreciated on the FCR carb. I'm new to Honda's

Service manual for your ATV shows turn out is 2 3/8.
Also, float height is 8mm (0.31in)

I just rebuilt a carb on 1993 Yamaha Big Bear. Will admit it took pulling the carb four times to get things right but was worth the extra effort. It hasn't run this well in years.

Since it has been sitting a while it's a really good idea to clean the fuel tank. You might be surprised what you find.

Hope this helps you.

Generally everyone runs a 48 pilot jet 2 turns on mixture screw. You also have a leak jet that can be adjusted to change the amount of fuel the accelerator pump pushes. But most likely since your bogging closer to wide open throttle i would bet your lean on the main jet aswell. When you start adding air flow alot of people drop the stock needle for a ncvq needle aswell. It richens up the mid power. FCR carbs are fun to tune. Alot of things to adjust to get them just right.

Installing a smaller leak jet in the bowl has helped me get rid of the dreaded FCR bog on a couple machines. The accelerator pump itself can also be adjusted.
