I bought an '08 rancher 420 last year and never even considered looking for a kick start. I've never had a problem with the quad starting, but it would be nice to know that you had one available. Has anyone put on an after market kick start?

they done away with the kick start on most of the newer honda's...sinse they changed the design of the engines..it would very hard to put a kick start on these motors..the way they sit in the frame...it would be almost impossible for a kick starter to be added to the engine...but..hey..if you figure out a way..let us know !!..i'd put one on this 2000 trx350tm in a heart beat..i hate the idea of nothing but elec start..or pull start..and most of the pull starts always fail because of the design flaw in the seal that goes around the pull starter wheel.

Pull starts are an option on the rancher. It's standard on the foremans, and I have used mine just to see how it works, but I don't know how well it would hold up. On the foreman you remove the right side panel to expose the pull rope, and I assume that's where the rancher would be mounted also, but not sure.

I agree with Pain, the pull rope starter is an option on the 420 Rancher. No way of putting a kick starter on one.

Right. I like the rancher, but after having the foreman for a while and beating on it pretty good, I'm pleased with it. It's more a mule than a show horse. Not saying the rancher isn't tough, but the foreman is a brute.
