Hello All,
My 10 month old Rancher started what felt like a quick slip in 2nd gear. The selling dealer said "ride it till it breaks". Well it finally broke. 2nd gear slips pretty good, 4th gear is completely gone, 5th gear and reverse are starting to act up. Back to the dealer, "don't ride it, you'll make it worse" was the response. Has been there for 3 weeks, Factory Rep said to order a 2nd and 4th gear kits. Parts are back ordered, no clue when they will be available. Can't seem to discuss the problem with the Rep. and Honda Customer Service has not been any help. My other 3 Ranchers (all '07 2wd) have not had any problems. Is this a common problem for the 4wd models? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

All I can say to cover you butt is do you have a Lemon Law in your State? If your (I'm not sure about ATV's ?) vehicle (mine was a motorcycle) is out of commission for a certain period of time, they either pay you back the original purchase price, or they can get you a new one. But this is your decision. I think they even have to repay you the money if you want to go that route.

But......I don't know if this applies to ATV's. It's better to check it out than let it go.

I just purchased a 2007 Honda Foreman after doing a ton of research on all types of ATV's. Honda is the most bullet proof of them all when it comes to quality. When going through all of the information before I made my purchase, I saw no major recall or mechanical problems with any of the Honda ATV's.

It's my opinion your problem may just be a fluke? I'd let them finish, and then I run the thing good just to check it out.

Good Luck, I know what you're going through.
