I have a 08 Honda Foreman 500 and I found a 08 Honda Rancher 420 for $500. Does any one know which parts are interchangeable or if it's worth buying as a spare parts bike?

find part number for either quad and see if the corresponding part you need has the same number. Without knowing what you need or what’s wrong with the 420. Unless you’re looking to hoard which is honorable so long as you admit to it lols

08 has the smaller frame, don’t think you’re going to find much in common past the tires and wheels,(unless they still have the smaller stock ones on the Rancher).
