are you trying to get the idle higher ??..if so..turn the black knob thats under the carb..it has a long spring on it..this will increase your idle. if that don't work..there is a screw under the rubber cover right there at your throttle..pull the rubber cover back..loosen the big silver screw..back out the long screw part some..does this increase your idle ?.if so..then just tighten down the outter big screw nut..put the rubber boot cover back over them.

And if that don't work, you might need to adjust the pilot screw.

the 250EX doesn't have the Idle screw you are speaking about. the idle screw is in the side of the slide tube the slide has a bevel cut in it and as you tighten it the needle and slide move up to increase the idle.

The slide is the part that goes down in the top of the carb that the throttle cable is hooked to. The idle screw should be on the side of the carb, somewhere.

The idle screw is #9 in the diagram below. I circled it in red.

It's supposed to be turned in until your idle speed is about 1,400 RPMs. If you don't have a tach, you will have to guess at it. Just adjust it to it sounds about the right speed for idling.
