not sure WHY motor is in need of a top end, but if SUNK< or??
there is NO WAY to clean the inside of a motor by flushing
flushing is ONLY a gamble, some times it gets enough out to run for a while, MANY times it doesn't

SO< honestly, if your looking for long term life out of the motor, SPLIT the cases, all the more so NOT knowing what all has been done to the motor before you had it
might have been sunk MANY times and old owner ditched it knowing so!
just a top end, and you can soon have wasted all your time and money on a top end , as will be back to smoking or worse real soon!

Yes has been sunk servers times I’ve seen it get sunk 20 time myself
The guy just did the bottom end and then he didn’t set the rings right on piston so cause it to smoke and so on and so forth and he didn’t clean a single thing when he put the top end together after doing the bottom end he rushed thru the top end getting excited cause he was close to being finished

Simple answer..... Needs a FULL MOTOR INSPECTION/DISASSEMBLY/REBUILD, END OF THREAD!

Sorry to be blunt and/or brutal but any sunk motor is as good as scrap unless fully stripped and inspected, especially after so many times!

Exactly it was a buddy of mine he didn’t get to ride it but one time around his yard after the full rebuild bottom and top end I watched him do the bottom end so I dont need to go into bottom I just know that I watched him rush the top end so I know the top end wasn’t done right

All I can suggest is keep digging until that motor frees off.. If top end it can only be wrist pin (little end).. If you've got the top end removed then it can only be crank related unfortunately, regardless of previous work.

I'll say now, all established members on this forum DO NOT mess about, things are done properly or not at all, no half measures. You won't get a 'quick fix' answer here, it's all or nothing.

if its been sunk as many times as you say ??^^, chances are..your top end work wont even last a month !. I agree..unless you pull and split the motor, wash it all out good, then put it back together ??..your wasting yours and our time !.
